Pre-Litigation Attorney

About the role

Our client is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join a plaintiff-side personal injury practice in Modesto. This opportunity is ideal for a newly admitted or early-career attorney looking to build a strong foundation in personal injury law through hands-on experience, comprehensive training, and direct mentorship. You will work closely with experienced attorneys and leadership, develop practical legal skills, and take on meaningful responsibility early in your career. This is a non-litigation role focused on case development, client communication, negotiation, settlement, and strategy.

Responsibilities

• Communicate regularly with clients and guide them through the personal injury process
• Evaluate cases, identify legal issues, and assess liability and damages
• Develop case strategy and determine appropriate next steps
• Review medical records, treatment information, and demand packages
• Work closely with case managers to keep cases progressing
• Negotiate with insurance companies and assist with resolving cases
• Monitor client treatment and help ensure clients receive appropriate support
• Participate in client intake and evaluate prospective cases in real time
• Speak directly with prospective clients and clearly explain how the firm can assist them
• Build client confidence through clear, empathetic, and persuasive communication
• Collaborate with the intake/call center team, case managers, attorneys, and firm leadership

Requirements

• Active California Bar admission
• Recently admitted or early-career attorney
• Strong interest in plaintiff-side personal injury law
• Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
• Confident and personable, particularly when communicating by phone
• Empathetic and able to build strong relationships with clients
• Clear and persuasive communication skills
• Quick-thinking and comfortable making real-time assessments
• Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
• Motivated to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Prior personal injury experience is a plus, but not required
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus

Pay

$90,000 - $115,000 salary, depending on experience

Work Location

This is an in-office position in Modesto, California. Hybrid flexibility may be available after the initial training period.
