About the Role

Join us in the fight for what’s right! DeMayo Law is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to manage all non-priority client files from assignment date throughout the treatment process and until disbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Client Service
    • Assign cases to Case Managers.
    • Conduct attorney reviews of all non-priority cases to monitor for coverage/liability issues, ensure clients are treating, manage medical care, spot over-treatment, monitor customer service, and ensure timely client releases.
    • Monitor and manage departmental standards for client contact percentage and checklist items.
    • Communicate with clients to promote world-class service and assist with medical case management.
    • Handle escalated calls requiring attorney communication.
    • Supervise the Case Management Supervisor to ensure duties are carried out.
    • Attend and participate in weekly pre-litigation conferences with litigation attorneys to determine whether to present top offers to clients or consider litigation.
    • Review all client surveys and address concerns with the Case Management Supervisor.
    • Perform annual reviews of the Case Management Supervisor; assist with annual reviews for Case Management team members.
    • Manage employee issues in collaboration with the firm’s HR Director.
    • Communicate with external parties as needed to facilitate case progression.
    • Answer questions from Case Managers and the Case Management Supervisor to help move cases forward.
    • Process loan requests and documents.
  • Medical Records
    • Oversee all aspects of the medical records department.
    • Monitor case flow to ensure files are reviewed in a timely manner.
    • Review files to determine if clients are released or should be released to expedite settlement offers.
    • Address questions from the Medical Records Supervisor and department members.
    • Oversee department metrics to ensure compliance.
    • Review files to confirm treatment is related to auto accident-induced injuries.
    • Resolve difficulties in obtaining medical records.
  • Settlement
    • Perform settlement appointments regularly.
    • Handle all withdrawals and terminations in the pre-litigation department.
    • Strategize to improve case value for client benefit.
    • Improve time-on-desk metrics for CSS and Medical Records departments.
    • Review all new non-priority cases for Statute of Limitations and update Litify accordingly.
    • Utilize dashboard reports to analyze files ready for settlement.
    • Review Settlement Memos post-negotiation for accuracy.
    • Answer questions from other attorneys and team members regarding settlements.
    • Review releases.
    • Handle post-settlement conversations with adjusters regarding issues.
    • Ensure the DLAW method of asking for referrals is employed during each disbursement.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to the NC State Bar; admission to the SC State Bar is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of personal injury practice experience.
  • Passion for client service and building a world-class operation.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, manage multiple priorities, and lead others.
  • Supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume practice.
  • Demonstrated highest level of personal integrity, client confidentiality, and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn various software programs.
  • Experience using Litify or other CRM software preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
