Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- A valid Florida Educator’s Certificate approved by the Florida Division of Early Learning to teach in the VPK program
- Completion of VPK Instructor Emergent Literacy course requirements prior to start date
- Completion of 3-Emergent Literacy Courses or Competency 1 of the Reading Endorsement after completing the first three emergent literacy courses, with one emergent literacy course completed every five years
- Completion of Implementing the Standards in Preschool Classrooms - 3-Year-Old to Kindergarten course prior to state date
Job Duties and Responsibilities
As an active member of the faculty and staff, you will:
- Work with administrators and instructional teams to plan and implement hands-on programs and activities for students and the school
- Participate in a cooperative effort with faculty and staff to plan, implement and evaluate programs of continuing school improvement
- Manage classroom and supervise proper care of equipment used
- Participate in personal professional growth activities focused on the acquisition of new and improved skills and knowledge
- Diagnose and analyze student progress and programs for the purpose of providing appropriate instruction based on the developmental stages of students
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the individual needs of students
- Utilize technology and current research in instruction
- Evaluate students’ progress on a regular basis
- Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate
- Show sensitivity to students, parents and the community and promote student self-esteem
- Maintain professional relationships between school and parents
- Maintain contact with parents through parent-teacher conferences, telephone, or written communications
- Encourage parental involvement through school activities, connecting home and school
- Maintain all records as required, including but not limited to grade books, attendance records and student progress reports
- Assist in the protection of student and school property
- Keep up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS
- Ensure timely and accurate information is maintained as part of job responsibilities

Your performance will be evaluated in accordance with the OCPS Instructional Personnel Evaluation System procedures manual.
