Pre- Kindergarten Teacher Assistant

Essential Functions

• Monitor and support positive social growth and development of the students in assigned grade level
• Aid assigned teacher in maintaining the classroom environment
• Assist in preparing teaching materials
• Aid in literacy development and other classroom activities in assigned classroom
• Work with individual students needing extra support, as directed by the classroom teacher
• Aid Pre-K teachers during transitional times such as lunch to rest time
• Aid Pre-K teachers in ensuring Department of Education Licensing requirements are met
• Provide planning time for Pre-K teachers
• Supervise before-school students at drop-off and inside classrooms, supervising early arrivals until classrooms open
• Aid in afternoon dismissal process as directed
• Supervise recess for Pre-K and Kindergarten classes
• Supervise Pre-K and Kindergarten students traveling to and from enrichment classes
• Supervise Extended Care students on Late Arrival and Early Dismissal Days, when the Director is unable to secure enough care
• Assist with administration of assessments for prospective Pre-K & Kindergarten students

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree required; Certification preferred
• Skills, Abilities, and Attributes: Passion for working with lower school students, strong desire to work in a faith-based community, collaborative spirit with strong communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude and commitment to creating a joyful school experience
