Duties
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each scholar by responding to their academic, cognitive, social-emotional, and physical needs.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times.
- Be a positive role model for all caregiving staff and scholars.
- Work closely with the Head of School to ensure our program provides education, physical health, emotional well-being, and parental involvement services to all enrolled scholars.
- Engage scholars in activities and play that stimulates their development.
- Appropriately supervise scholars while keeping them safe at all times.
- Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.
- Supervise Assistant Teachers in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations.
- Mentor Assistant Teachers in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day.
- Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children, complying with Creative Curriculum®.
- Implement the Creative Curriculum® in a highly effective and impactful manner.
- Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences.
- Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends.
- Prepare monthly parent newsletters and weekly lesson plans according to policy.
- Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times.
- Comply with AdvancEd Accreditation Standards.
- Comply with professional development requirements.
- Perform any other duties as required by Administration.
Qualifications & Skills
- CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience in a teaching capacity and lesson planning.
- Passionate about the development and well-being of children.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- (Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field preferred)
