About the Role

As our Pre-Admit RN, you will provide professional nursing care, guided by the nursing process and your scope of practice, with demonstrated pre-operative clinical expertise. Your role is vital in ensuring comprehensive patient readiness for procedures. Every day, you will deliver essential clinical services within the Pre-Admission Testing Unit, planning and coordinating care for peri-operative patients across diverse surgical specialties. This involves applying and interpreting hospital policies, overseeing readiness of supplies and equipment, and maintaining strong communication with surgical scheduling, surgeons, and ancillary staff. You will actively participate in patient preparation, assessment, education, and contribute to operational and budgetary objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary link with MCEMSA and pediatric committees to disseminate information and ensure policy compliance
  • Teach MICN classes, coordinate staff competencies, and provide prehospital, trauma, stroke, STEMI, and pediatric education
  • Lead and participate in EMS, ED pediatric, and clinical QI/PI activities and medical supervision
  • Serve as the PECC to ensure ED readiness, equipment availability, and specialized care for all children
  • Promote pediatric disaster preparedness, community outreach, and patient/family illness and injury prevention education

Qualifications

  • Associate of Nursing (ADN) or minimum two (2) years of Acute Care Nursing Experience
  • Registered Nurse: CA
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN), within 6 (six) months
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), within eighteen (18) months
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), within 6 (six) months
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), within 6 (six) months
  • This location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
  • Pediatric experience, MICN experience, upon hire
  • Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (BCEN), upon hire

Pay

$64.65 - $94.86 /hour
