About the role
Responsible for general assembly tasks associated with the packaging of quality cheese products. Such tasks may include but not limited to: un-racking, bagging, cryovac, palletizing, rack washing.
Responsibilities
- Manually remove up to 26 lb wheels of cheese from racks and place them on the table.
- Bag wheels of cheese, and transition them to the next conveyor.
- Monitor cheese on going down the belt ensuring continuous movement through the line.
- Maintain the cryovac machine while in operation, lay bagged cheese on plates while keeping bags flat over the heat seal bars.
- Stack sealed up to 26 lb wheels in a tote on pallet, making sure current pallet configuration and count as stated on the product template.
- Wash racks and slats throughout the day in order to return them timely to production.
- Clean and sanitize production equipment.
- Return rejected packages from the dry pack area to wet packing area, open rejected packages so they can be resealed.
- Verify that pallet, box, tag, barcode, and tally sheet information is accurate.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand instructions.
- Maintain good sanitation and housekeeping practices.
- Comply with all quality system and regulatory requirements.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Requires regular attendance.
Qualifications
- Rotates through all positions on the line throughout the shift.
Skills
- Manipulate, lift, and position heavy equipment.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Work in a cool environment of less than 60 degrees F.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and lift and carry 26 lbs. multiple times per minute.
- Occasional climbing of steps & safety ladders.
- Continuous walking and standing.
