Pre-Access Scheduling Specialist - Part-time with Benefits

About the Role
The Pre-Access Scheduling Specialist is required to maintain a working knowledge of all areas and modalities of the Centralized Scheduling Department. This position is responsible for the scheduling, pre-registration of patient appointments, and collection of patient demographics to include the referral and insurance authorization requirements to provide maximum financial reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with patients, physician offices, and ancillary departments within the organization to accurately complete patient information/demographics.
- Schedule new appointments, reschedule existing appointments, and work with departments and physicians’ offices to arrange urgent tests.
- Demonstrate expertise to ensure tests are scheduled accurately and in accordance with departmental guidelines to include patient instructions and test preparation.
- Request orders, as well as any other required paperwork necessary to complete the patient’s appointment.
- Maintain productivity, exercise good judgment with minimal supervision, and meet and maintain the quality registration metrics and collection goals set forth by the Management team.
- Calculate patient financial estimates and collect the patient’s financial responsibility over the phone.
Requirements
- Proficiency in the use of computer software to include keyboarding navigation, ability to operate a copier, fax machine, 10 key calculator and printer.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with patients, customers, employees and Senior Leaders.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to analyze and determine the type of data needed to complete various types of patient registration functions.
- Ability to manage time, deadlines, multiple requests and priorities, and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to apply policies and procedures regarding data security and confidentiality to prevent inappropriate release of patient information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Some college coursework preferred (Business/Health Sciences).
- One year hospital experience in the areas of registration and / or patient accounts or experience in a physician’s office practice required.

Pay and Schedule
Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable. Pay range: $18.09 - $24.24.
