About the role
The Manager - Physician Practices III, John Muir Health Physicians Practices (JMHPP), is a key member of the operations and management team. This role involves working collaboratively with medical directors, physicians, practice staff, and senior leadership to ensure best practices within managed ambulatory sites.
Responsibilities
- Measure practice performance against benchmarks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Enforce standardized operations and ensure compliance with senior leadership policies and procedures.
- Optimize practice operations, clinical quality measures, patient flow, access, revenue cycle, and overall financial health.
- Facilitate strong relationships with physicians and encourage open communication on operational, financial, or procedural improvements.
- Develop and lead a strong, quality-oriented, metric-driven, and customer-focused management team.
- Provide timely and informed decision-making, delegate effectively, and maintain excellent physician relations.
- Develop and deliver clear, concise, and compelling communication to engage others and achieve desired results.
Requirements
- Associate Degree (or 4 years of experience) - Required
- Bachelor’s Degree - Preferred
- 3 years of progressive leadership in an ambulatory/physician practice - Required
- Experience in team building and change management - Required
- Strong practice management experience in a multi-physician (four or more) ambulatory clinic - Preferred
- A continuous learner demonstrating competencies in the medical practice Body of Knowledge through professional achievement in certification/fellowship in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (Medical Group Management Association), and/or American College of Healthcare Executives - Preferred
- A continuous learner demonstrating competencies in the medical practice Body of Knowledge through professional achievement in certification/fellowship in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (Medical Group Management Association), and/or American College of Healthcare Executives - Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Certification - Preferred
Skills
- Ability to make timely and informed decisions and delegate effectively
- High-level comfort and knowledge in finance, cost control, access, productivity enhancement, government regulations, and reimbursement methodologies
- Understanding and appreciation for clinic operations, including continuous quality improvement expertise and interest in operational improvements
- Comfort and familiarity with computer systems, programs, and applications, with the ability to train others
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage others and achieve desired results
- Excellent physician relations skills and ability to provide valuable insights and logical explanations to physicians
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems
