About the role

The Practice Assistant is a multi-skilled worker who assumes a wide range of clinical and administrative roles within the physician office setting, serving as a key team player when interacting and communicating with patients and/or clinical staff in the ambulatory care environment. This is a part-time float role with Tuesday's and Thursday's required, floating between our Buffalo Grove, Algonquin, Libertyville, Skokie, and St. Charles offices.

Responsibilities

  • Support providers with the delivery of high-quality health care to ambulatory patients in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Create a friendly and stress-free experience for clients through exceptional customer service and professional conduct
  • Greet and check clients in and out at each visit
  • Collect co-pay/co-insurance and private pay client payments
  • Contact insurance to verify eligibility and coverage, and provide accurate benefit quotes to clients
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls, and assist prospective clients by answering questions about our practice
  • Record vital signs, such as weight, height, temperature, pulse, urinalysis, and respiration rate
  • Schedule client appointments via screening questions to best match a therapist to meet their needs
  • Provide paperwork to clients for completion, including office policies and required documents for signature
  • Prepare, update, and maintain accurate client profiles utilizing the EMR system
  • Maintain client HIPAA rights and other protections of confidentiality and privacy
  • Submit records to inquiring parties with documentation of proper release forms
  • Ensure prompt, accurate, and efficient handling of documents for filing and scanning
  • Copy, scan, fax, and email information as required
  • Assist with communication between clients and providers
  • Maintain understanding of policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by providers, therapists, and office manager

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience working in a medical office and/or mental health (preferred)
  • Experience working with patients who are suffering from anxiety and depression (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor, and interface well with patients in a mental health setting (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Some experience in healthcare settings (preferred)
  • Knowledge of working in a clinical setting (preferred)

Pay

Estimated hourly pay range: $20.00 - $23.00

Schedule

Part-time float role with Tuesday's and Thursday's required.
