Position Summary
About the Role
The Denver, CO office of Ogletree Deakins is seeking a Practice Assistant to support the firm's growing practice. The ideal candidate will work under the direction of attorneys and paralegals, supporting the delivery of high-quality legal services.
Responsibilities
- Preparing Documents: Uses word processing and document management software to prepare and process correspondence and legal documents.
- Processing Mail: Reviews and routes incoming mail and faxes, preparing and processing outgoing mail and faxes.
- Maintaining Calendar: Maintains and updates calendars for assigned attorneys, managing meetings, appointments, and client-related activities.
- Maintaining Files: Maintains paper and electronic files in compliance with internal policies, performing routine filing and retrieving files as needed.
- Timekeeping: Prepares time entries for assigned attorneys and submits them in a timely manner, prepares expense reimbursement and disbursement requests, and coordinates client billing matters with the Billing Department.
- General Administrative Support: Assists with new matter documents, receives and screens phone calls, receives and directs clients and visitors, schedules meetings, and arranges for conference rooms and meals.
- Communicating: Communicates effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues, anticipates business needs, and meets deadlines.
- Additional Administrative Support: Assists with mentoring new office staff and piloting new software.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a practice assistant or legal secretary.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes.
- Accurate typing of at least 70 words per minute.
- Strong computer proficiency in MS Office, document management, time entry, e-filing, and database software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong proofreading skills.
- Superior organizational skills including filing, calendaring, and proofreading.
- Time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Regular predictable attendance.
Qualifications

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is between $57,000 and $85,000.
Schedule
Regular predictable attendance is required.
