Job Summary

This exciting Nursing Faculty position provides classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulation instruction starting on July 1, 2026!! This role will work with nursing students from diverse backgrounds in the area of fundamental and medical surgical nursing concepts and theories across the life span; use traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction, including the use of technology; use effective interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills while teaching in an integrated curriculum; demonstrates a commitment to student academic success. The primary teaching focus will be in the Practical Nursing program and may also teach in the Maricopa Nursing RN, Nursing Assistant, RN to BSN, and/or Continuing Education programs. Participates in person, online, and hybrid course facilitation and alternative clinical activities. The position may have varying days, including some evenings and weekends. New Faculty will receive mentorship opportunities within the department and at the college level.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and facilitates student learning for a diverse population of students in simulation, clinical, and classroom settings
  • Develops written syllabi/course outlines and all course materials
  • Evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' academic achievement
  • Prepares and grades exams
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in nursing through attendance at conferences, seminars, and/or workshops
  • Works with students to ensure compliance for clinical readiness
  • Maintains office hours
  • Serves on and participates in department, college and district wide committees and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus 3 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a BSN and a graduate degree and 2 years’ experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care,
  • Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.
  • Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.
  • Must show completion of EDU 250 – Teaching and Learning in the Community College or sign up and complete the Springboard to Success training within the first semester post hire.

Desired Qualifications

  • A. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree
  • B. Three (3) or more years of experience as an RN providing direct patient care in an acute care setting
  • C. One (1) or more years of didactic teaching experience educating a diverse population of nursing students
  • D. One (1) or more years of clinical/lab teaching experience working with a diverse population of nurse students
  • E. Three (3) or more years of Nursing or Teaching Experience in the past five years
  • F. Experience with Curriculum development
  • G. One (1) or more years implementing simulation technology (e.g. Laredal, Gaumard, and CAE mainikins
  • H. One (1) year full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years (internal candidates ONLY)

Special Working Conditions

  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends
  • May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May require lifting objects weighing up to 50lbs
  • Possibility of exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases
  • Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
  • Position is scheduled to start July 01, 2026
