PR Specialist and Internal Communications Lead, Amazon Security

About the role

Amazon is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our Security team. In this position, you will work effectively in a matrixed global organization, build working relationships quickly, and exercise strategic instincts with a bias for action. You will drive the internal communications program for the Amazon Security organization while supporting external communications efforts, working with senior leaders and marketing teams to develop messaging, strategies, and cross-channel programs.

You should be a quick learner who can rapidly develop fluency in complex subject areas, simplify challenges, manage ambiguity, and build consensus with diverse stakeholders. If you thrive in busy environments, are a self-starter, and enjoy technology-related issues, this role may be a great fit.

Responsibilities

• Drive the day-to-day internal communications program for the Amazon Security organization, including setting priorities, making strategic recommendations, and ensuring consistent execution.
• Draft leadership communications such as emails, talking points, and messaging for senior leaders.
• Plan and execute internal events including all-staff meetings, speaking engagements, and video messages.
• Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of external communications programs covering security.
• Ensure factually accurate representation of the business in the press.
• Regularly interact with senior leaders to influence strategy around sensitive launches and product offerings.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and influencers in technology trade and business press.
• Work cross-functionally to plan and execute cross-channel communications campaigns—both internal and external—across the company.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• A track record of successfully representing high-profile tech products or organizations through external and internal communications.
• Experience driving internal communications programs for large, technical organizations.
• Outstanding attention to detail, curiosity about technology, and ability to quickly learn and communicate complex topics effectively.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
• Strong judgment and the ability to operate independently while keeping leadership informed.
• A knack for diplomacy and the confidence to engage and build consensus with senior leaders at all levels.
• Familiarity with security topics is a plus, but not required; a demonstrated ability to develop subject matter fluency quickly is equally valued.

Pay

Base salary range: $76,600.00 – $134,000.00 USD annually (Arlington, VA). Your package will include sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits.
