About the role

The Privacy Specialist will own defining the control requirements, prioritization and related policy for one or more core compliance programs. This will require driving high judgment debates and decision making across senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Define the compliance bar for one or more Privacy compliance programs.
  • Document existing technical and non-technical controls and provide requirements to support mature compliance programs and governance.
  • Partner with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and Technical Product Managers (PMTs) to produce viable technical solutions to Amazon-scale compliance challenges.
  • Guide leadership in balancing risk management concerns and risk mitigations against customer experience while contributing to product roadmaps.
  • Drive process improvement and contribute to control implementation projects in coordination with other teams.
  • Apply a working knowledge of global data privacy to articulate customer/control impact.
  • Follow the developments of relevant privacy laws, customer expectations, and regulatory guidance to identify and communicate key trends and to protect customer trust.

Requirements

  • Experience in risk management methodologies and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience solving complex problems quantitatively and develop actionable data-driven business recommendations.
  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units.
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy, regulatory, or risk and compliance roles.
  • Working knowledge of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the EU ePrivacy Directive, EU Digital Markets Act (DMA) and EU Digital Services Act (DSA), US State Privacy law and/or other relevant legislation.
  • Experience operationalizing and/or managing global regulatory requirements.
  • Record of delivery of regulatory-driven process improvement projects with technology processes and/or major tech companies.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Privacy or compliance certifications (e.g., CIPP/E CIPP/US etc).
  • Experience evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls.
  • Experience in working directly with auditors for compliance assessments.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
