About the role

Public relations specialists are responsible for managing the communication between an organization and its publics, including stakeholders, employees, customers, and the media.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to enhance brand reputation and public image.
  • Manage media relations, including pitching stories to journalists and responding to media inquiries.
  • Coordinate internal communications to ensure consistent messaging across all departments.
  • Manage crisis communications and develop contingency plans to address public concerns.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to align public relations efforts with broader business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public relations or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce compelling press releases, social media posts, and other communication materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with crisis management and public relations best practices.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of public relations principles and practices.
  • Experience with digital media and social media platforms.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to inform public relations strategies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with public relations software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
