Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
- Pulls finished goods for internal/external shipments.
- Inventories materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- Accurately reports scrapped material or product.
- Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
- Ensures that vehicle is in good operating condition, completes daily checks, notifies supervisor of deficiencies.
- Completes inventory transactions on vehicle computer terminal.
- Completes annual review of OSHA required safety training as assigned by supervisor.
- Reports any safety malfunctions, near hits, and or injuries to supervisor immediately.
Qualifications
- Must have experience with SAP systems, EWM is a plus.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Knowledge of IMS systems or standard inventory control systems.
- Previous forklift experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to work cooperatively with supervision and co-workers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to learn computer functions.
Education/Experience
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience: Previous forklift experience preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Often required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
