Power Systems Technical Communicator

About the role

As a Engine Technical Communicator at Mustang Cat, you'll provide expert technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance the skills of dealer technicians within our Power Systems Division.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Assist service teams across locations in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues; provide expert guidance to Mustang Power Systems shop & field service teams (Large Bore 290, Marine, EPG, Tomball, Waller); collaborate with Caterpillar engineers via DSN to resolve critical issues.
• Failure Analysis & Problem Resolution: Conduct applied failure analysis and manage technical service requests; work with district CAT Representatives to resolve warranty concerns; develop cost-effective solutions for equipment performance issues.
• Training & Collaboration: Mentor dealer technicians to enhance technical proficiency; assist sales & parts teams with technical product knowledge; work closely with Caterpillar to improve equipment performance and service processes.

Requirements

• Education & Experience: Degree in Diesel Technology or related field (or equivalent experience); strong hands-on experience with Caterpillar engines & power systems.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in internal combustion engines (spark vs. compression ignition); ability to read schematics, engineering drawings & machining specs; proficiency in precision measuring tools & dyno testing procedures; familiarity with CAT diagnostic & service systems.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication & problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented & adaptable in high-pressure situations; team player with a passion for continuous learning.
