About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding Power & Energy Business Unit. This role will focus on the analysis, design, and optimization of electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards. The successful candidate will ensure systems are designed for reliable and efficient performance while maintaining compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design electrical schematics for low-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Create comprehensive design packages including elevation drawings, layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and full submittals for switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and motor control centers (MCCs).
  • Specify and select electrical components such as controls, transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays based on one-line diagrams and specifications.
  • Utilize industry-standard design software including Siemens COMPAS, Schneider SE Advantage, Eaton Bid Manager, and ABB Empower to select the correct components and breakers.
  • Design and implement complex control and protection schemes tailored to customer specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of power systems into equipment designs.
  • Perform factory inspections of assembled equipment to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in power systems, including renewable energy integration and microgrid development.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to support project development and execution.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements

What we need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering for industrial or commercial applications.
  • Strong understanding of power system theory, including power generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization principles.
  • Ability to perform short-circuit calculations and apply protective device coordination principles is a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and EPlan.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards: UL1558, UL891, UL67, UL845, UL 508A.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-focused.

Qualifications

What we’d love you to have:

  • 7+ years of experience in power systems engineering for industrial or commercial applications.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, or ETAP.
  • Experience in leading large-scale custom switchboard designs.
