About the role

Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a Power Systems Applications Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Review specifications, proposals, estimates, and other contract documents to develop submittal packages consisting of drawings and BOMs.
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings and have in-depth dealer/consultant interaction.
  • Approve designs for switchgear and generator control systems created by CAD Designers for submission to customer.
  • Design protective relaying schemes for switchgear.
  • Finalize power envelope designs for medium and low voltage systems.
  • Work with consultants and customers to gain production approval on submittal packages.
  • Support inside and outside sales team members with technical solutions and guidance.
  • Support production engineers for successful transition from submittals to production.
  • Present clear detailed designs for production engineers to execute.

Requirements

  • Experience in the design of low and medium voltage switchgear.
  • Research new part requirements, read manuals and contact vendors to ensure successful implementation.
  • Collaborate with customers and leadership to scope and execute projects that meet the needs of the business.
  • Participate in partner meetings and provide technical support.
  • Participate in the development of new product features and improvements.

Qualifications

  • A degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
  • Analyze and interpret customer specifications and drawings.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles to solve complex problems.
  • Use CAD software to create and modify designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

Pay Range: $97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Schedule

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
