This is a grant-funded, full-time position at the Dickson Campus.
Requirements
- Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in repairing and troubleshooting power sports units within the last five (5) years.
- OEM certifications preferred.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and troubleshooting of motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides and marine engines.
- Must be proficient in making proper diagnoses using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, service manuals and specifications.
- Must possess computer skills.
- Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
- Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
- Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
- Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-person theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include safety; engines; marine engines; drives, clutches and transmissions; frames and suspension; electrical systems; troubleshooting; etc.
- Monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress.
- Maintain student records in the college’s student records management software.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and submit timely reports.
- Assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates.
- Maintain good public relations with business and industry.
- Participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies.
- Supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education.
- Some travel may be required.
Schedule
- Scheduled work hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Scheduled class hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Anticipated start date: November 1.
- Classes scheduled to begin: January 2027.
Pay
$51,149–$61,379 per year ($26.23–$31.47 per hour), commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
