Power Plant Construction Manager

Key responsibilities

• Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project
• Manage walk downs of planned work and validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements
• Approve contractor payment requests and verify constructability
• Ensure proper resource allocations and assess field status
• Manage scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, and schedules
• Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce
• Communicate departmental, station, and division goals
• Address logistical challenges and resolve conflicts
• Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices; provide coaching, direction and corrective action as needed
• Lead commissioning projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
• Cook up commissioning plans
• Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to implement commissioning plans
• Oversee system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance
• Manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines
• Resolve operational issues that arise during the commissioning phase

Requirements

• Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 6 - 10 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers

Required skills

• Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning
