About the role

At Interstate Companies, we are seeking a Power Generation Technical Trainer to join our Training Department at our state-of-the-art training facility in Butler, Wisconsin. This role is responsible for delivering and developing technical training programs that enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of employees, customers, and business partners across the Interstate organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver power generation and electrical technical training at Interstate training centers in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Montana.
  • Plan and coordinate training schedules to support manufacturer certification requirements and business needs.
  • Partner with internal teams and OEM manufacturers to ensure compliance with technical training standards.
  • Conduct product familiarization and technical education sessions for employees and customers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Interstate branches and service teams.
  • Aid in the development, enhancement, and evaluation of training curriculum and learning materials.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership and presentation skills with the ability to engage and instruct groups of 20 or more participants.
  • Experience developing technical training programs and measuring training effectiveness preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of power generation equipment, including generators, transfer switches, power distribution equipment, electronics, electrical systems, engine controls, and troubleshooting.
  • Self-motivated professional who can work independently and effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Heavy Duty Engines, Power Generation, Diesel Technology, or a related field-or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in power generation, generators, or emergency power electrical repair and diagnostics.
  • Ability to travel to training centers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, and occasionally.
