Responsibilities

  • Play a critical role in supporting the core electrical energy management systems that power our fusion generators.
  • Work on high-voltage systems for driving pulsed magnetic coils, specifying and integrating high energy components, and designing and testing power electronics.
  • Design, test, and scale low voltage control electronics and PCBAs that interface with high energy systems.
  • Develop analog front ends for current/voltage/field/temp and other diagnostics, ensuring measurement integrity in high EMI environments.
  • Collaborate with firmware/software teams on acquisition requirements and data quality.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in power electronics, solving complex electrical engineering problems from design to delivery.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated strength in at least one of the focus areas above.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting ability with standard lab equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, loads, function/pulse generators, etc).
  • Comfortable working in high-energy or electrically noisy environments with a strong safety mindset and disciplined documentation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, LTSpice, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, Simulink, Python, and/or MATLAB.

Qualifications

  • Strong electrical engineering skills with a focus on one of the following areas: high voltage/pulsed power systems, power electronics, low voltage control and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, solid-state switching devices, and energy recovery systems.
  • Knowledge of power electronics design, testing, and scaling.
  • Experience with low voltage control electronics and PCBAs.
  • Proficiency in analog circuit design, including amplification, filtering, isolation, and ADC interfacing.
  • Experience with noise mitigation, grounding, shielding, and calibration strategies in high EMI environments.
  • Collaboration with firmware/software teams on acquisition requirements and data quality.
