We are seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop next‑generation power electronics for solar, energy storage, EV charging, and test applications using SiC and GaN MOSFETs. This position offers the opportunity to innovate in areas such as high‑frequency bidirectional DC‑DC converters, AC‑DC grid‑tie inverters, and resonant converters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development from concept to productization.
  • Develop innovative digital control algorithms and magnetics.
  • Collaborate with PCB layout designers to implement high‑density power designs.
  • Work with mechanical designers to develop product designs, including sheet metal, heatsinks, and bus bars.
  • Ensure UL and CE compliance for various products.
  • Lead EMC compliance activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in power electronics design.
  • Solid understanding of physics and electronics.
  • Expertise in high‑frequency power stages, filtering, circuit protection, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, and Sim‑Power Systems.
  • Experience in product development processes.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in power electronics and control systems design.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multi‑task effectively.
  • Strong process orientation and problem‑solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Power Electronics with over 5 years of industry experience.
  • 5 years of experience in design, testing, and debugging of DC‑DC or 3‑phase AC‑DC converters.
  • Experience in design and selection of power semiconductor parts and cooling mechanisms.
  • Understanding of PCB layout design for high voltages.
  • Familiarity with UL1741 and typical safety/EMI standards.
  • Knowledge of EMC requirements and filter design.
  • Understanding of hardware‑mechanical and hardware‑software interfaces.
  • Experience operating in a power‑electronics and industrial packaging manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in the Research and Development center in Milwaukee, WI. There will be quarterly travel to Franksville. The position requires working five days a week in the office. This is a fully onsite position in Milwaukee, WI.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors.
