Power Delivery Substation Project Manager

About the role

This opportunity is to join WSP's Power & Energy Management Team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a Substation Project Manager. The role requires a hybrid work arrangement, with a minimum of 3 days a week spent in the client's office.

Responsibilities

  • Support, organize, and control project activities with minimal oversight
  • Coordinate and communicate with all levels of management and disciplines throughout the project life cycle to support project cost and schedule objectives
  • Oversee project budgets, review costs, provide cash flow forecasts, and ensure adherence to planned budgets to maintain client satisfaction and financial success
  • Document project deliverables, including correspondence, project changes, and project files, ensuring thorough record-keeping
  • Develop and nurture strong, long-term relationships with clients by understanding their needs, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring consistent communication to drive satisfaction and retention
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support future opportunities
  • Includes client in-office presence 3+ days a week and periodic site visits
  • Adhere to proven processes and develop new processes to standardize procedures
  • Enforce project safety standards and develop and foster effective strategies to engage project stakeholders at all levels
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide "trusted advisor" service and future-ready solutions for clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience
  • 5+ years of substation physical and electrical design and construction experience
  • 5+ years in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry

Qualifications

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Strong attention to detail and technical writing skills
  • Highly proficient understanding of project delivery process within the Power Delivery/Utility industry and strong background and experience in project management
  • Advanced proficiency with analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management
  • Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools
  • Potentail to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, subcontractors, consultants, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet project-specific needs

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The role is a hybrid role requiring the selected candidate to work from the Client's office a minimum of 3 days per week.
