Powder Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of our powder safety program
• Maintain and help improve Vulcan Forms' powder safety framework
• Conduct powder safety audits
• Coordinate with facility safety personnel
• Perform hands-on validation and verification activities
• Interpret and apply NFPA 660 and related standards
• Maintain awareness of the evolving regulatory and standards landscape
• Interact with third-party safety organizations

Requirements

• Hands-on experience handling reactive or combustible metal powders in a manufacturing or R&D environment
• Working knowledge of NFPA 660 and the underlying hazard mechanisms of metal dust fires and explosions
• Experience specifying or evaluating powder handling equipment
• Comfort working in an active production environment
• Experience with metal AM systems
• Familiarity with industrial hygiene sampling and exposure assessment for metal dusts
• Background in regulated manufacturing environments

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in powder handling or safety engineering

Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of NFPA 660 and related safety standards
• Experience with metal additive manufacturing systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The annual base salary range for this position is $137,830.00 to $189,510.00.
