Powder Painter - 1st shift (Beaver Dam)

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and receives instructions from manager.
  • Observes metal products to identify errors needing repair before paint application.
  • Applies paint, wet and powder coat, and other finishes to metal fabrication and structural surfaces.
  • Mixes and matches colors of paint, wet and powder coat with oil and thinning and dying additives.
  • Determines appropriate color for new or replacement jobs.
  • Maintains existing paint surfaces through matching and tinting of appropriate paint products.
  • Cleans equipment, paint mixing area, and work area.
  • Operates compressors, spray equipment, and other small power equipment.
  • Applies paints, preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to various surfaces.
  • Ensures compliance with hazardous materials guidelines during application.
  • Identifies, safely handles, and properly disposes of paints, stains, preparatory, and undercoating materials.
  • Keeps paint booth and ovens clean and in good working order.
  • Fills out and manages all production and quality documentation as required.
  • Follows all company rules, policies, and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Skilled in preparing and applying paints, powder coat, and surface preparation materials to a variety of surfaces.
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude to work efficiently in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task.
  • Previous experience working within a paint department; 2 years of wet spray, 2 years of power painting preferred, but training available.
  • Experience painting on a moving line in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong basic math and computer skills.

Requirements

  • High school degree, diploma, or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Experience painting on a moving line in a manufacturing setting.
