Overview
The Powder Coat Technician I performs routine and repetitive tasks associated with pre and post coating operations working with a trainer. Duties include finishing work, hand deburr, parts cleaning, parts routing, basic drill and tap work, masking and/or racking parts to be painted, and operating various machines/equipment in the assigned area.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares and operates painting equipment in production area and performs various secondary activities within assigned area.
- Inspects assigned work, achieves and maintains quality and productivity standards, and follows safety guidelines.
- Uses required PPE (personal protective equipment) and does not pose a risk to self or others.
- Performs basic blueprint reading and/or follows production order checklists, method sheets, and records work information on job cards.
- Safely and efficiently routes parts using material handling equipment.
- Works collaboratively within the team to maintain a neat and organized workstation.
- Actively engages and participates in department continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate work information in English with demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Basic computer skills are required.
Education And Experience
Previous powder coat manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
- Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
- Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
- Able to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA’s respirator use requirements.
