Powder Coat Technician

Responsibilities

  • Prepare parts for coating
  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, and booth collection systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently without daily supervision
  • Work 50+ hour weeks; to meet the needs of the customer's occasional overtime may be required
  • Work with exposures to hazards such as chemicals and dust
  • Work near moving machinery and equipment
  • Work in a noisy environment

Physical Demands

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, hands, fingers, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling of materials, and operating machinery
  • Perform repetitive motions using your hands and fingers such as, but not limited to, grasping, gripping, and holding
  • Carrying & lifting 10 - 50 Pounds frequently

Education And Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A strong background in powder coating and industrial painting
  • Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
  • 1-3 years minimum experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
