Postdoctoral Scientist -Surgery Chair, Ryeom Lab

About the role

Sandra Ryeom, PhD is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to join her team and contribute to breakthrough research. The Postdoctoral Scientist will work independently but in close cooperation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, performing routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform experiments, keeping appropriate experimental records and documentation.
• Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
• Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Assist in the preparation of grant proposals (though not responsible for generating grant funds).
• Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
• May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject interactions as they pertain directly to the research being performed.

Requirements

• Doctorate Degree (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in a field directly related to the research specialization.
• Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze data, and communicate scientific findings effectively.
• Highly motivated with a proven track record of publications.
• Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI).
• Thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research projects and objectives, acquired during a 1-5 year post-doctoral appointment.
• Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection and analysis.
• Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.

• Immunology and Pancreatic Cancer.
• Gastroesophageal cancer, tumor microenvironment, tumor angiogenesis, Down syndrome, and cancer.
