About the role

Postdoctoral positions funded by the NIH and MSU Research Foundation are open in the laboratory of Dr. Dohun Pyeon at Michigan State University. Our research group is uniquely positioned to carry out basic and translational cancer research by integrating patient specimens, unique mouse models, in vitro cell culture systems, recombinant virus production, genome-wide CRISPR, small-molecule screens, and single-cell analyses.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will lead projects to define the mechanisms of virus-driven cancer immune evasion and to develop novel cancer immunotherapy targeting newly discovered immune regulators.

Requirements

  • A recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a related field
  • No more than one year of prior postdoctoral training at the time of appointment
  • At least one lead-author publication in a top-tier research journal

Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to building an independent research program through NIH career development (K) awards
  • Expertise in cancer immunology, drug development, and/or mouse models
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently within a research team

Work Environment

Some duties may include exposure to health risks such as human blood, serum, tissue, and other body fluids, as well as materials covered under Universal Precautions, and work with animals or unfixed animal tissue.
