About the role
The Hamilton Lab at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to contribute to a research program focused on the role of demography and selection in the evolution of long-lived trees, specifically green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica).
Responsibilities
- Analyze full-genome resequencing data to characterize the evolutionary trajectory of green ash in novel environments.
- Quantify the impact of demographic and genetic changes on the evolutionary adaptation of forest tree species.
- Contribute to grant writing and prepare peer-reviewed publications based on research findings.
- Lead research projects and collaborate with the PI, collaborators, and lab personnel.
- Operate a motor vehicle as part of job duties.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in forestry, evolutionary biology, population genomics, quantitative genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Experience with analyzing whole-genome resequencing data, demographic analyses, genotype-environment association analyses, and bioinformatic tools.
- Familiarity with Unix or Linux environments.
- Ability to integrate across biological disciplines and troubleshoot new methodologies.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in evolutionary and ecological genomics.
- Expertise in landscape genomics, Genotype-Environment Association analysis, and demographic modeling.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
Skills
- Programming for bioinformatics, biostatistics, and simulations.
- Experience with Unix or Linux environments.
- Ability to lead research projects and collaborate effectively.
Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Pay
