About the role
The Advanced Computing Solutions Group in the NLR Computational Science Center seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher - Computational Sciences, with a focus on mathematical optimization and its application to energy systems. This role involves collaborating with domain experts, implementing and evaluating optimization algorithms, and leveraging AI/RL techniques.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with domain experts to identify optimization applications and stay updated on related research.
- Develop and apply optimization models and algorithms in physical systems.
- Integrate AI/RL techniques to enhance classical optimization methods.
- Contribute to research publications and proposal writing.
Requirements
- Recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
- Experience with optimization formulations and algorithms.
- Familiarity with parallel algorithmic approaches for optimization problems.
- Strong understanding of optimization fundamentals.
Qualifications
- Experience with algebraic modeling languages like Pyomo, JuMP, PuLP, and GAMS.
- Knowledge of mathematical optimization solvers such as CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress, Cbc, Ipopt, and their capabilities.
- Programming skills in Python and/or Julia.
- Experience with scalable machine learning frameworks like PyTorch.
- Experience working in a diverse, inclusive, and cross-disciplinary team environment.
