Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroimaging
About the role
The Detre Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania, under the mentorship of Dr. John Detre and Dr. Sudipto Dolui, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a multidisciplinary team investigating brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias through advanced neuroimaging methods.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple NIH funded projects aimed at improving understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of aging and neurodegeneration and at developing advanced biomarkers of vascular brain health.
- Conduct clinical and translational research utilizing structural, functional, and physiological magnetic resonance imaging methods, with a particular emphasis on cerebral blood flow imaging derived from arterial spin labeling to assess cerebrovascular integrity and neural activity.
- Analyze both locally acquired data and data aggregated from large national and international neuroimaging datasets.
- Develop specialized expertise in cerebral blood flow imaging, arterial spin labeling, multimodal MRI, data harmonization, and quantitative neuroimaging approaches that support research in normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and contribute to the development of sensitive and specific neuroimaging biomarkers.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in neuroimaging, machine learning, or deep learning.
- Strong scientific writing skills and interest in leading manuscripts and contributing to grant applications.
- Experience with perfusion MRI or arterial spin labeling is preferred.
Qualifications
- Strong computing skills, including proficiency in coding languages such as Matlab, Python, or R.
- Willingness to learn and apply machine learning or deep learning methods.
Skills
- Interest in biomedical research.
- Enthusiasm and motivation to participate in team science.
