Postdoctoral Researcher in Cardiovascular Research
About the Role
The laboratory of Dr. Yanqing (Anna) Gong and Yi Fan in the Cardiovascular Institute at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking one or two highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join a research project investigating vascular function and immunity in cardiovascular disease. The goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac repair after myocardial infarction, with a focus on vessel tube formation, endothelial cell plasticity, and immune modulation. The study aims to develop new regenerative therapeutics by targeting the hostile ischemic microenvironment to promote cardiac repair. The laboratories are also interested in immunotherapy for cardiovascular disease using CAR-T or engineered myeloid cells, strategies previously developed for treating cancer.

Responsibilities
- Investigate molecular mechanisms of cardiac repair after myocardial infarction.
- Study vessel tube formation, endothelial cell plasticity, and immune modulation.
- Develop regenerative therapeutics targeting ischemic microenvironments.
- Explore immunotherapy approaches (e.g., CAR-T or engineered myeloid cells) for cardiovascular disease.
Requirements
- Background in cardiology, vascular biology, immunology, or related fields.
- Practical experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
- Experience with animal models.
Qualifications
- Preference given to candidates with prior experience in endothelial biology and cardiovascular research.
