Postdoctoral Researcher in Agentic AI, Machine Learning, and Immunology
About the Role
We are looking for an independent and creative postdoctoral researcher to join our research efforts at the interface of Immunology, Computer Science, and Biophysics. This position focuses on computational biophysics within the Theoretical Biology and Biophysics Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
The successful candidate will develop LLM-based agentic workflows to interpret complex biological data and predict immune responses to vaccines and therapeutics. Experience in building machine-learning models for protein-protein and protein-small-molecule interactions, antigen discovery, and immune-response modeling is essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop LLM-based agentic workflows for interpreting biological data and predicting immune responses.
- Build machine-learning models for protein-protein and protein-small-molecule interactions.
- Work on antigen discovery and immune-response modeling.
- Address uncertainty in limited, noisy, or high-dimensional biological data.
- Scale models in cloud or HPC environments.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of immunology.
- Experience with LLM APIs and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain.
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Experience developing predictive and multimodal ML models.
- Ability to work with limited, noisy, or high-dimensional biological data.
- Experience scaling models in cloud or HPC environments.
- Background in antigen discovery, protein interactions, or immune-response modeling.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- PhD in a related field completed within the last 5 years or soon to be completed.
Desired:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Past research collaborations with experimentalists.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary research projects.
Benefits
- PPO or High Deductible medical insurance with a large nationwide network.
- Dental and vision insurance.
