Job Description
A 7-month postdoc position is available to work on funded NSF project, “Collaborative Research: NSFGEO-NERC: The history of the Earth's magnetic field strength over the last five million years: Filling in the southern hemisphere gap”. The position is in the Department of Geological Sciences, under the direction of Dr. Courtney Sprain.
Responsibilities
- Conduct 40Ar/39Ar geochronological analyses at the UF Argon Geochronology Lab
- Conduct paleointensity experiments at the UF Neil Opdyke Paleomagnetism laboratory
- Use the IsotopX NGX noble gas mass spectrometer
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences, Geological Sciences, or a closely related field
Preferred Experience
- Expertise in both high-precision 40Ar/39Ar geochronology and paleomagnetism
- Experience running the IsotopX NGX noble gas mass spectrometer
