Postdoctoral Researcher
Job Summary
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher. This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.
About the Role
The candidate will carry out research in the group led by Dr. Akhil Vaidya in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The work will consist of molecular and cell biology of malaria parasites involving application of advanced techniques such as genetic manipulations of malaria parasites, live cell imaging, and cryo-electron microscopic structural studies. The applicant should have a PhD in microbiology or a related field and experience working with malaria parasites.
Responsibilities
- Carry out research in the molecular and cell biology of malaria parasites
- Apply advanced techniques including genetic manipulations of malaria parasites, live cell imaging, and cryo-electron microscopic structural studies
- Contribute to the development and execution of research projects
- Collaborate with other laboratory members and external collaborators
Requirements
- Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Microbiology or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Qualifications
Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Microbiology or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience working with malaria parasites is required.
Skills
Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, particularly genetic manipulations of malaria parasites, live cell imaging, and cryo-electron microscopy. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential.

Pay
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
