Postdoctoral Researcher
About the role
A postdoctoral position is available in the Wang Laboratory (https://www.augusta.edu/cancer/research/labs/meng-wang.php) at the Georgia Cancer Center, Augusta University. Our research integrates computational and experimental approaches to understand the molecular basis and evolution of melanoma and other cancers. We combine cancer genomics, molecular biology, and functional genomics to study genome instability, inherited cancer predisposition, population and ethnic disparities in cancer, and aging.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform independent research projects
- Develop and optimize molecular and cellular assays
- Analyze and interpret experimental data
- Contribute to manuscripts and grant applications
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate trainees
- Present research findings at scientific meetings
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline
- Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, microscopy, or next-generation sequencing library preparation
- Experience with cancer biology, DNA damage response, genome stability, or functional genomics is preferred
- Familiarity with genomic technologies, including whole-genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics or long-read sequencing, is highly desirable
- Basic computational skills (R, Python, Linux, or bioinformatics analysis) are advantageous
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Strong publication record and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with grant writing, mentoring students, and collaborative research is a plus
Skills
- Strong experimental background
