Postdoctoral Research Fellow - OBGYN, Maternal Fetal

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a background and/or interest in maternal-fetal medicine, extracellular vesicles, neurodevelopment, and fetal brain injury to join the UTHealth Houston Division of General Obstetrics & Gynecology in Houston, Texas. This is an NIH-funded position in Dr. Goetz's lab.

A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts experiments with human specimens using techniques including tissue processing, PCR/RT-qPCR, Western blotting, and/or ELISAs.
• Analyzes data and prepares publications describing results.
• Assists in training and mentoring lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
• Reads and evaluates literature.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with individuals at all levels.
• Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctoral/Terminal Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Neuroscience, Immunology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related discipline).
• Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. This position is security-sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094. Applicants may be subject to review for continuous connections to foreign adversaries or criminal history that could impact the security or integrity of critical infrastructure.
