About the role

The Postdoc will conduct research under supervision, analyze, interpret, and present data. This role plays a critical role in conducting studies within the assigned lab, working independently to develop and execute experimental procedures that advance research projects. The research involves a variety of technical laboratory experimentation.

The Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI), established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), is an academic basic and translational research enterprise focused on rapidly translating scientific innovation into clinical applications. The CDI has grown since 2019 and now includes 39 labs, over 200 scientists, and is supported by 78 NIH and DoD grants, along with more than 87 other grants and contracts. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics, biomarker development, rheumatology, and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research under direct supervision.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data.
  • Creates reports from analysis of initial observations and conclusions.
  • Presents findings to higher-level staff and in internal and external research forums such as scientific conferences, lab meetings, and institutional seminars.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems; refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Participates in grant and manuscript writing, as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in a scientific or related discipline.
  • Minimum publication or in-preparation of one article as first author in a reputable peer-reviewed journal.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct independent research.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in lab-specific techniques (varies by lab).
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Pay

Minimum annual base pay: $62,233.60. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget or grant funding. Full-time and part-time positions (20+ hours/week) are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Certain roles may also qualify for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
