About the role

The Yu lab within the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop string algorithms and bioinformatics tools for analyzing biological sequence data. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of novel computational methods with a focus on biological relevance.
  • Create and refine bioinformatics tools for analyzing various types of biological sequence data.
  • Contribute to the theoretical underpinnings of the developed algorithms through rigorous analysis.
  • Collaborate with the lab's interdisciplinary team to integrate new methods into existing projects.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong background in algorithm design and analysis.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to publish research in top-tier scientific journals and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of academic achievement and publication in relevant fields.
  • Experience with bioinformatics software development and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of computational biology and its applications.
  • Interest in biomedical privacy and security, although not the primary focus of this position.
