About the role

The College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences at UNTHSC seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist with expertise in immunology, microbiology, and host-pathogen interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate the effects of Borrelia burgdorferi on host immune responses.
  • Analyze gene and protein expression in bacteria and host.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute experiments.
  • Prepare and present research findings in scientific meetings and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree.
  • If not yet conferred, a letter from the school's official Graduate Office and/or Registrar's Office certifying that all requirements have been met and stating the degree conferral date can be accepted.
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Project organization/management skills.
    • Advanced training in quantitative research methods.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field.
    • Strong background in immunological techniques.
    • Experience in genomic and transcriptomic analyses is highly desirable.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Proven track record of publishing research in high-impact scientific journals.
    • Experience with Borrelia burgdorferi or related species particularly encouraged to apply.

Skills

Expertise with cultivation and handling of spirochetes is particularly sought.
