About the role
The Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory (SO) at the University of Arizona (UA) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position focusing on nearby dwarf galaxies and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for discovery in wide-field imaging surveys.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop an independent research agenda focused on nearby dwarf galaxies and wide-field survey data.
- Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Contribute to public engagement and outreach initiatives.
- Develop and implement collaborative research projects, workshops, or visitor programs.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, supporting a positive academic community.
Requirements
Completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field by the time of appointment.
Qualifications
Research experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Nearby dwarf galaxies
- Handling and analysis of large imaging data sets
- Application of AI or machine learning techniques to imaging data
