Postdoctoral Research Associate I

About the role

The Harris Lab in the University of Arizona Department of Physiology is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the full-time position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. Dr. Harris’ NIH-funded research incorporates biochemical, physiological, and biophysical approaches at the cellular, protein, and whole-animal levels to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying heart and skeletal muscle diseases.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting experiments to investigate the molecular mechanisms of heart and skeletal muscle diseases using biochemical, physiological, and biophysical techniques.
• Collaborating with other lab members on projects related to cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health.
• Writing and submitting research papers to peer-reviewed journals.
• Presenting research findings at scientific conferences.

Requirements

Requirements include:

• A PhD in Physiology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Experience with biochemical, physiological, and biophysical techniques.
• Strong publication record in relevant scientific literature.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, physiology, biophysics, or related fields.
• Experience working with animal models and/or human samples.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and data interpretation.

Skills

Skills required include:

• Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR, DNA sequencing, and RNA isolation.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as R or Python for data analysis.
