Postdoctoral Research Associate - Developmental Neurobiology - Proteostasis and muscle-brain signaling during aging
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital · Memphis, TN · 2 wk ago
AnalystFull-time
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the group of Dr. Fabio Demontis. The lab is located in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, USA. The research uses mice and Drosophila to decipher the conserved mechanisms of muscle aging and proteostasis, and how muscle-derived signals (myokines) affect proteostasis and the progression of age‑related diseases in the central nervous system.
Responsibilities
The fellow will conduct experiments using mouse and Drosophila models to study muscle aging, proteostasis, and myokine signaling, investigating their impact on CNS proteostasis and age‑related neurodegenerative diseases.
Requirements
- Applicants must not have already started postdoctoral training elsewhere.
- Ph.D. (recently awarded or upcoming).
- Expertise in molecular, biochemical, and cell biological techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong desire to make a major contribution to the field of aging and neurobiology.
Skills
- Training in Drosophila neurobiology and tauopathy is preferred but not required.
Benefits
- Access to outstanding research facilities and a highly collaborative St. Jude community.
- Shared resources and cutting‑edge technology led by expert scientists.
- Customized professional and career growth programs, including grant writing workshops, individual development plans, teaching and mentoring opportunities, non‑research career advancement programs, and a professional development allowance.
- Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and generous relocation assistance.
