About the role

Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by predicting defects and assessing weld quality of mechanical parts in real-time by developing machine learning models that use sensor data and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Understand various concepts in welding and related mechanical engineering processes and clean existing datasets.
• Create deep learning models.
• Use deep learning to build a robust model that predicts welding defects based on sensor data.
• Perform other project-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree required.
• 0-1 year of experience in machine learning for engineering design and simulation.
• A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
