Postdoctoral Research Associate - Mechanical Engineering
About the Role
The position will support a federally sponsored fundamental science research project within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas. The research focuses on nanoscale heat transport, the optical and electronic properties of materials, and spacecraft thermal engineering. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will contribute to research activities, data analysis, experimental and computational investigations, scholarly publications, and other project related objectives in support of the department's research mission and sponsored goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
- Research experience in the fields that are related to the focus areas of the position
- Proven track record of publications in relevant journals and conferences
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on nano/microscale cleanroom fabrication and materials thin film deposition
- Self-motivation and strong teamwork skills
- Some travel is required to participate with collaborators' facilities
- Grant proposal development and assistance

About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has a mission to provide a high quality education to our diverse student population through excellence and innovation in teaching and research in order to serve the scientific and engineering needs of the state of Texas and the nation. This will be achieved by a balance of formal course work, practical laboratory training, and research projects that encompass both the basic science and the applied aspects of mechanical engineering. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering degrees. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Compensation
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and discipline, in accordance with university guidelines and available funding. FTE: 1.00. Retirement Eligibility: ORP Eligible.
