Core Responsibilities
- Interact with an interdisciplinary research team of faculty, post-docs, graduate students, and industry collaborators on multiple environmental chemistry research project areas.
- Expected to assist the PI in proposal writing, student mentoring, publishing papers, exploring new research directions, and maintaining good industry-university relationships.
- Design and conduct experiments in one of these areas of research, prepare manuscripts and monthly research reports, and present findings at national and international professional conferences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- PhD required.
- Demonstrated experience writing research proposals, mentoring graduate students, and publishing in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience working with real environmental samples, (e.g. soils, plants, subaquatic sediments or similar matrices).
- Strong laboratory skills and a working knowledge of other solid phase characterization methods for metals (e.g. XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM/TEM, ICP-MS, spICP-TOF-MS).
- Experience performing industry-sponsored research is also desirable.
- Effective English language oral and written communication skills are required.
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
