About The Opportunity

Bajpayee Lab at Northeastern is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Associate to lead high-impact research in cartilage-targeted gene delivery within a fast-paced, NIH-funded and industry-collaborative environment. This position is designed for top-tier, self-driven scientists who can independently execute, manage multiple projects, and deliver at a high level. This work integrates gene therapy, chemical conjugation, and quantitative transport modeling to engineer charge-guided delivery systems for dense, negatively charged tissues.

What You Will Do

• Lead multiple projects across federal and industry-funded programs
• Design and engineer gene delivery systems using chemical conjugation and molecular engineering
• Quantitatively analyze transport, partitioning, and binding kinetics in biological matrices
• Conduct and contribute to in vivo studies in musculoskeletal models
• Independently write and publish high-impact manuscripts
• Train and mentor students while driving projects forward
• Manage project budgets and presentations

Who You Are

• PhD with a strong first-author publication record
• Expertise in chemical conjugation, biomaterials, or drug/gene delivery
• Experience with quantitative modeling (transport, kinetics, or related)
• Comfortable working with animal models
• Highly motivated, accountable, and able to manage multiple projects independently

Ideal Candidates

• Experience with gene delivery (mRNA, DNA, CRISPR)
• Background in cartilage, ECM transport, or polyelectrolyte systems
• Prior exposure to translational or industry-linked research

Pay

Expected Hiring Range: $60,315.00 – $85,192.50. Starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
